Window of opportunity for Greenwich's Christmas calendar

Organisers invite the community to take in the annual Advent Windows.

Greenwich is gearing up for the annual decoration of the the community's Christmas Advent Windows celebration.

Each day of the Advent, which is run by St Alfege Church, a newly decorated window will be revealed, or “opened” and stay on display until 2 January 2015.

Shops, homes, schools and pubs are bending their imagination and artistry to produce the living Advent Calendar.

Now in it's eightth year, the theme for 2014 is Hope and regret. The two things go together and they form part of the special atmosphere of Advent. The Advent window is open to people who members and non-members of St. Alfege’s alike.

Seeing all of the Advent Windows usually takes around 3 hours on foot and people can read about the window openings after each event on the St Alfege Church blog.

Those wishing to participate can either e-mail adventwindows@hotmail.com or ring the church at 020 8858 0687. Further details including the map for this year will be on the website www.adventwindows.com.
