Greenwich’s Painted Hall at the Old Royal Naval College is home to many legends and stories, and now the public can be a part of them by uncovering the myths and tales that decorate the ceiling and west wall of the Painted Hall.
‘Sketch a Story’ allows you to make your mark on a large collaborate drawing along with many other families for free. ‘Sketch a Story’ is open to all ages and runs for one day only on 18 February, between 1pm and 4pm.
Discover our fantastic character actors this half term and watch as they bring history to life! Meet Greenwich Pensioner Joe Brown, who lived out his days at the Royal Naval College (now the ORNC).
On Sunday 15 February you’ll be able to interact with Joe and find out about life as a Greenwich Pensioner including what the sailors ate and drank, punishments for breaking hospital rules and stories of the Battle of Trafalgar, or on Sunday 22 February pop along to the ORNC and meet Pirate Queen Grace O’Malley. She’ll tell you tales and exploits about life on the ocean wave. Twice widowed, twice imprisoned, condemned for piracy, she was finally pardoned here in Greenwich by Queen Elizabeth I.
