Businesses Sign Up to Keep Trade Local
Independent businesses around Greenwich are signing up for the Federation of Small Businesses’ Keep Trade Local campaign in a bid to keep trade viable throughout the year.
The recently launched campaign is being coordinated with Small Business Saturday and held on the busiest shopping day of the year – Saturday 6th December. It has drawn support from businesses owners and politicians across London.
Small independent businesses make up a significant portion of local communities like Greenwich where people can socialise and do their Christmas shopping using communal businesses that offer an extra sparkle during the Christmas season.
There’s also a chance to win prizes up to £500 by simply shopping with participating businesses in the fortnight leading up to Small Business Saturday.
Participating businesses and customers can register, promote any special offers or discounts and upload ‘selfies’ with their purchases. All registered businesses will be provided with free posters, leaflets and promotional items, and featured on our Twitter.
“Greenwich is an amazing city to do business in, but it can be quite tough especially for small independent business owners competing with large well known chains”, said Lorraine Turton, FSB Vice-Chairman for South East London, “Small independent businesses are the economic life-blood of our communities and many rely on the Christmas trading period to ensure their viability through the rest of the trading year.”
