Old Royal Naval College goes French for new film

The area is transformed for the filming of new thriller, Bastille Day

The Old Royal Naval College has gone French again – but only temporarily. In 2012 the site was the scene of Les Misérables; and now the action thriller Bastille Day has just finished filming on site.

Directed by James Watkins (The Woman in Black) and starring Idris Elba (Luther), Richard Madden (Game of Thrones) and French-Canadian actress Charlotte Le Bon, Bastille Day is a thriller where a young artist and former CIA agent embark on an anti-terrorist mission in France.

Bastille Day is the name given in English-speaking countries to the French National Day which is celebrated on 14 July each year. In France, it is formally called La Fête nationale.

Bastille Day is expected to hit cinemas in 2016.
